A Heartwarming Story 가슴 따뜻한 소식
오늘 아침에 놀라운 기사를 읽었습니다.
아마존 회사에서 200 여명의 홈리스 어머니와 아기들에게 무상으로 숙소를 제공한다고 합니다.
그것도 아마존이 소유한 건물에서 반은 회사가 쓰고 나머지는 홈리스를 위하여 사용한다고 합니다.
물론 출입구는 나뉘겠지만 저로서는 획기적인 사건이 아닐 수 없습니다.
물론 이 기사에 비판도 따랐습니다.
아마존은 기부 문화에서 다른 회사보다 느리다는 것이 첫째 지적이고 둘째 비난은 건물의 열쇠를 홈리스 프로그램 담당자에게 전달하는 과정에서 너무 생색을 내었다는 것입니다.
이 글을 통하여 여러분과 나누고 싶은 마음이 있습니다.
첫째. 교회가 이런 일을 감당한다면 하나님께서 얼마나 기뻐하실까 상상해 볼 때 가슴이 쓰립니다.
어려운 이웃을 돌아보는 일이 한 순간에 끝나는 절기 행사가 아니라 이들의 자녀들이 성숙하는 것을 함께 지켜보고 이들의 삶에 참여한다면 그리스도 예수를 모르는 자들도 예수님을 경외 할 수 밖에 없을것입니다.
둘째. 교회에서 행사에서 생색내는 일을 만들지 말자는 것입니다. 교회를 보는 눈이 탐탁지 않은 것은 어제 오늘의 일이 아닙니다. 오른손이 하는 일을 왼손이 모르게 하라고 하신 주님의 뜻대로 묵묵히 이 사회에서 그리스도의 빛을 발하는 여러분의 교회와 하나선교회가 되기를 바랍니다.
하나선교회는 이웃을 섬기는 일에 교회와 성도들의 안내자가 되어 함께 힘쓰는 기관이 되고자 합니다.
신실한 마음으로 이 일을 감당할 수 있도록 위하여 기도해 주시기 바랍니다.

There is a heartwarming story in the news this morning: Amazon providing rooms to 200 homeless mothers and children.
What's more inspiring is a sharing of a space in one building between Amazon employees and homeless population.
Fantastic!! I exclaimed and gave thumbs up to Amazon and it's founder Jeff Bezos.
However, there are some criticism behind this story. According to Seattle Times Amazon was not in front line but following other corporations in giving back to the society. In 2012, there were donations of $4 million from Microsoft, Boeing $3.1 million and Nordstrom $320,000 to the city. But Amazon gave $0.
Another criticism is how Amazon professionally staged this moment of giving to enhance the company's public image.
PNR quotes in the news "what makes it uncomfortable for me is the Oprah-like surprise that seems obviously designed to create a viral video moment."
For me it's alright since that's how the world operates: Nothing for free.
What I want to share with you from this story is this:
1. Instead of Amazon I wish we have churches offering rooms to the homeless and needy friends.
It is my prayer that more churches to participate in giving to the needy neighbors instead increasing the size of the church buildings
2. Corporations are not there to give but to receive profits. When they make donations their returns are already figured.
Churches, however, are there to give and the giving should come out of obedience to the Lord not for the public image of the church.
Pray that the Lord may guard our heart to protect us from empty glory.
3. Please pray for Hana Mission that we may serve our needy neighbors sincerely without single dose of human craftiness.
